  • 1.0 out of 5 stars from JC -- Fell Apart : This book started off great and was looking like it would be one of my favorites BUT toward the end began to go downhill. It got worse and worse and the last chapters and the ending were so bad I couldn't give it more than 1 star and that's too many. I felt angry and disgusted when I closed the book. Surely my copy of the book was flawed and missing a couple chapters that tied up some of the loose ends. Mills must have been desperate trying to come up with some sort of shocking final twist. • 2.0 out of 5 stars from Robert D. -- Good like normal, but left too much unresolved... : I've been a long-time fan of the Mitch Rapp series and was even reading them before Vince Flynn passed away. I've also enjoyed many books by Kyle Mills. However, I felt this book was below the quality I normally expect. The ending seemed rushed with many issues unresolved. I do understand that some of these larger issues, such as the situation with the Cooks or the corruption high up in the Saudi government might be resolved in a future book, but there are way too many little things where the reader is left hanging. I won't go into detail here because I don't want to spoil things, but if you're a fan you'll know what I mean when you finish the book. I get the feeling that Kyle started off great but then was coming up to a deadline and had to rush to finish the book. That's too bad really. I should have went on for another 100 pages or so and tied up a few things. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2021 )
  • 2.0 out of 5 stars from PContarino -- Mediocre at Best : I was a fan of Flynn's. I think Rapp is one of the best characters in this genre (the other being John Welles from Alex Berenson). Mills has done a decent job of carrying on since Flynn's death. This book started off well enough but really got bogged down fairly quickly. I simply didn't care about the characters or the ridiculous plot of the first trillionaire who inexplicably lives in Africa. In an unstable part to boot. The more interesting part of the plot took place in D.C. with the machinations of the administration, though the dialogue between the President and the First Lady was not particularly believable. I don't want to give any spoilers. The ending concerning a long running character was even more absurd. Ridiculous in fact. And the book doesn't resolve many issues. Perhaps there was a deadline for Mills. At any rate I will not be buying any subsequent Rapp novels. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Shawn Cross -- Hard-hitting action! : Hard-hitting action. Bond-like gadgets. Swelling suspense. Clairvoyant plotting. Gallows humor. Unsuspected betrayal. And a twist you’ll never see coming. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from John Racine -- Mitch Rapp and Kyle Mills Strike Again : Kyle Mills hits it out of the park with this latest Mitch Rapp novel. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2021 )
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Shawn Jones -- Changes are coming? : I have been reading this series from the beginning and have always loved the characters and stories. When Mr. Mills took it over it was almost like Me. Flynn was still with us writing through him. This book however seems to have taken a step back from the action and is also changing the characters ever so slightly. It may be that Mr. Mills is going to take them in a completely new direction where the core group will no longer be working directly for the CIA and instead are branching out to have and do there on private spy thing. That would be pretty cool see. As much as I love the world that Vince Flynn has created it may be time to move on in a different direction. All this is just speculation but it would be an interesting way to keep the core of the characters together, in the same world, but in a new storyline. One in which Mitch, Irene, Scott and his team are now doing what they do best just in a private capacity instead of for the government. That being said I hope it doesn't turn into more of a political bashing of the United States government and our democracy. There was a little of that in this book. As long as Mr. Mills stays true to Vince Flynn's original message then this could be a great new chapter in these characters lives. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Michael W. Budd -- Wow, All I Can Say Is Wow. : A long ways ago (1997) I came across Kyle Mills in Rising Phoenix and I was singularly impressed with the Mark Beamon series. In the early 2000's I began reading the Mitch Rapp series and was immediately hooked. Each of the Mitch Rapp books were like dangerous travelogues. Just my idea of late night reading. Shortly after Vince Flynn passed away, Kyle was tapped to carry on the franchise and carry it on he has done well. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2021 )
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars from missy -- Hard to finish : I’ve been a committed fan all along so the disappointment is real. Utterly weird plot. New world order / old world order nonsense and I wasn’t entirely sure what the point of it all was. And nothing in the world is going to convince me that Mike Nash would turn traitor because he wants to be on the side of those in power who believe the muggles of the world need hardship and something to struggle against and he wants to be protected from the mob of humanity when it all gets too much. It really is as bonkers as that. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 2, 2021 )
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars from dan125 -- A step too far from the series : Mitch Rapp and all the regular characters are back. The action scenes and technical stuff are as good as ever but I've just finished it and I fear that the author has gone off on an arc that doesn't work in the Mitch Rapp series. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from superbabe -- Sad to say goodbye to a friend... : As always there is a twist in the tale. Sad to see a friend go but so well written with compassion in the end... ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 30, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Ruth -- page Turner : As usual brilliantly written, definitely waiting for next book to see what happens, love the fact that it’s up to date with world events ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 20, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from texas -- First class service : I have read every single book by the 2 authors and though Kyle is a brilliant writer (i have read all his books) there is just that something missing with that Vince Flynn had but whatever keep up the good work.
